Where appropriate, secret-management solutions or secure environment variables may be used.
18. Email Security
Email accounts may contain sensitive customer or business information. Venture Connect may apply strong authentication, multi-factor authentication, spam filtering, phishing awareness, restricted forwarding, and suspicious login monitoring. Personnel should exercise caution with unexpected attachments, unknown links, requests for credentials, payment instructions, account reset messages, and requests involving confidential information.
19. Phishing and Social Engineering
Personnel should remain alert to phishing, impersonation, fraud, and social-engineering attempts. Suspicious requests may be independently verified before sensitive actions are taken, including requests involving passwords, payment instructions, bank details, administrative access, account recovery, customer information, or sensitive documents.
20. Device Security
Devices used to access Venture Connect systems should be reasonably protected with device passwords or biometric authentication, automatic locking, operating system updates, anti-malware protections where appropriate, disk encryption where supported, secure Wi-Fi usage, and restricted administrative access. Lost or stolen devices containing sensitive information should be reported promptly.
21. Remote Work Security
Personnel working remotely should take reasonable steps to protect business information, including using trusted networks, avoiding unnecessary use of public Wi-Fi for sensitive operations, using secure connections, protecting screens from unauthorized viewing, locking devices when unattended, and keeping business devices updated.
22. Logging and Monitoring
Venture Connect may maintain logs and monitoring mechanisms for security, operational, compliance, and troubleshooting purposes, including login activity, administrative actions, application events, security alerts, system errors, API activity, and access attempts.
23. Vulnerability Management

25. Malware Protection
Where appropriate, Venture Connect may use measures intended to reduce the risk of malware, ransomware, malicious scripts, and similar threats. Personnel should avoid installing unauthorized or untrusted software on systems used for business purposes.
26. Backup and Recovery
Venture Connect may maintain backups of important systems or information where reasonably appropriate, including automated backups, cloud backups, version history, database backups, configuration backups, and restoration testing.
27. Business Continuity
Venture Connect may maintain procedures to reduce disruption caused by technology failures, cybersecurity incidents, service outages, provider failures, data loss, and infrastructure incidents. Recovery procedures may prioritize systems based on their importance to business operations.
28. Third-Party Security
Venture Connect relies on third-party providers for certain services, including hosting, payment processing, cloud infrastructure, email, analytics, marketing, eCommerce, customer support, identity verification, and software development tools. Where appropriate, we consider the security practices and reputation of providers before using their services. Venture Connect cannot guarantee the security of independent third-party platforms.
29. Vendor Access
Third-party vendors or contractors may receive limited access to Venture Connect systems where necessary. Such access should be limited to legitimate purposes, restricted where possible, removed when no longer needed, and protected by appropriate authentication measures.
30. Data Minimization
Venture Connect seeks to collect and retain only information reasonably necessary for legitimate business purposes. Sensitive information should not be collected merely because it may be useful in the future.
31. Data Retention
Information may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary for providing services, maintaining business records, resolving disputes, security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, accounting, and contract enforcement. Data may be deleted or anonymized when it is no longer reasonably required, subject to legal obligations.
32. Secure Disposal
Sensitive information should be securely deleted, destroyed, or otherwise disposed of when no longer required. Secure disposal methods may vary based on information type, storage method, legal requirements, and business requirements.
